A winning double has made today’s trip to Dubbo well worth the exercise, with Smart And Dapper and Smart Rooster, winning their respective events.

Lining up in the 3rd race on the card, the BM 50 Handicap (1000m), Smart And Dapper might light of the 60.5kg top-weight, to win by a commanding 3.3 lengths.

Piloted by Brooke Slower, Smart And Dapper wasn’t the best away when the gates opened but quickly gathered speed, spearing through the field, to find the lead as the field closed in on the home turn.

Sticking hard against the rails, the son of Smart Missile, continued to build on his margin and it was evident a long way from home, the race was his for the keeping.

It made it successive wins after saluting at Coonamble prizemoney to over $30,000.00, from just the five race starts.

In the following race, Class 1 (1000m), it was a similar pattern, with Smart Roostar having to be ridden out of his wide gate to find a forward position outside of the leader.

Ridden up turning for home, the 3yo gelding – also a son of  Smart Missile, looked to have his work cut out for him as runner pushed through the leading pair and put it’s nose in front however, under strong riding, Smart Roostar was in for the fight and knuckled down to record a long neck win on the line, making it two wins from as many outings!

Congratulations to all the connections on two very smart performances.
